EQUITY DEFENDER FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

This training is the result of the activities of the “YES – Youth Empowerment Support for Muslim communities” project, funded by the Fund – Rights, Equality and Citizenship by the European Union (2014-2020) created by Fondazione L’Albero Della Vita Onlus in collaboration with the organizations Aisha Project and Le Reseau. It also involves other actors from the public, private, profit and non-profit sectors, and is linked to the ongoing MEET-More Equal Europe Together project.

Recent data show that the Muslim community is the target of discrimination every day in the workplace, at school or simply in everyday life for a variety of factors: religion, gender in the case of Muslim women and girls, ethnicity. The result of this discriminatory phenomenon is social exclusion which also manifests itself through the phenomenon of hate speech or hate crime. The aim of the YES project is to prevent Islamophobia in Italy and Europe, increasing the resilience of Muslim communities. 

The direct involvement of young people is an essential prerequisite for the success of the project which sees them play an active role in understanding the problems of vulnerable members of their community. The EQUITY DEFENDER FOR SOCIAL CHANGE TRAINING aim at driving the peer to peer actions in order to prevent and combat discriminatory and Islamophobia attitudes and to support victims.

Questo corso di formazione è il risultato delle attività del progetto “YES – Youth Empowerment Support for Muslim communities”, finanziato dal Fondo Diritti, Uguaglianza e Cittadinanza dall’Unione Europea(2014-2020) e realizzato dalla Fondazione L’Albero Della Vita Onlus in collaborazione con le organizzazioni Progetto Aisha e Le Réseau. Coinvolge anche altri attori del settore pubblico, privato,profit e non profit, ed è collegato al progetto MEET-More Equal Europe Together.

Dati recenti dimostrano come le comunità musulmane siano bersaglio di discriminazioni ogni giorno sul luogo di lavoro, a scuola o semplicemente nel quotidiano per una varietà di fattori: religione,genere nel caso di donne e ragazze musulmane, etnia. Il risultato di questo fenomeno discriminatorio è l’esclusione sociale che si manifesta anche ed attraverso il fenomeno dell’hate
speech o dell’hate crime. Il progetto YES nasce con l’intento di prevenire e contrastare il fenomeno dell’islamofobia in Italia ed in Europa aumentando la resilienza delle comunità musulmane.

Il coinvolgimento diretto dei giovani è presupposto imprescindibile per la buona riuscita del progetto che li vede svolgere un ruolo attivo nella comprensione dei problemi dei membri vulnerabili della propria comunità.
La “Formazione per Equity Defender per il cambiamento sociale” mira a guidare i giovani verso azioni peer to peer per prevenire e combattere gli atteggiamenti discriminatori e di islamofobia e per sostenere le vittime.
